Todays Question: I take a lot of photos of my kids that are great but when I take photos of other peoples kids they are never as good! What can I do to make kids more open around the camera?
Im glad Im not the only one! Photographing kids can be challenging! When its your kids, they are comfortable around you. You can tell them to stand still so you can test out some light and they will have to listen. When you photograph other peoples kids it can be a complete disaster. They don't know who you are, the parents are getting frustrated trying to wrangle them all together which makes them sad or cry and no one wants those photos. Luckily Holly in the new Beginner Photography Podcast Facebook Group shared this link to a blog on Coles Classroom that really helped me understand how to handle the little ones and even a trick or two to deal with kids when Im at a wedding! Point is, let kids be kids but play to their strengths, wear them out so at the end you can get posed photos that they will sit still for!
