Todays Question: What is a polite way to tell a client I wont give her the unedited photos for her family mini session?
It's a common question every photographer will get at some point. "Can I just get the unedited photos" Typically the client by no means any ill will they assume it will save you a lot of time and will get them their photos faster. This is typically a problem of education. I always stress getting your photo right in camera and that editing is just the last 5% of the work. But that 5% is like "The Rug" that ties a whole room together. On its own its nice but in this room it SHINES! So when a client asks to just have the unedited photos, educate them. First off find out WHY they want the unedited photos. Is it because they do want them faster or is it because they think they can edit them better them selfs? Ask them why they hired you. Did they want a warm body to just press a button or were they hiring you for your talent? Let them know you don't feel comfortable with it and let them know the second the photos are ready. Don't let it be an option.
